A simple, chemical-free way to clear bees out of a honey super before harvest. The Porter escape mounts over the inner cover hole with two angled one-way exits — bees travel down through it and have a hard time finding their way back up.
Attach the escape over the inner cover hole, then place the inner cover directly beneath the honey supers you want to clear. Bees travel down through the two exit channels and into the boxes below, but struggle to find their way back up — leaving the super mostly bee-free within a few hours. Don't leave it installed too long; bees are resourceful and will eventually work out how to get back in.
