5-Frame Cypress Screened Bottom Board

The bottom board forms the floor of a nuc and carries the weight of everything stacked above it. Because this one's screened, it also lets air move through the box and lets mites that fall off bees drop through instead of climbing back up.

Screened vs. Solid

Screened boards are the more common choice — the airflow helps with moisture control in humid climates and gives you an easy way to eyeball mite drop. If you're in a colder or drier climate, or running a mating nuc where you want more heat retention, we also carry a solid bottom board.
