Arizona State Flag

3' x 5' polyester Arizona Flag with two grommets, double-stitched top and bottom edges, and a triple-stitched fly edge to reduce fraying.

✍️ The Design: Designed by Charles Wilfred Harris (the commander of the Arizona National Guard rifle team) alongside Carl Hayden in 1911, this flag was officially adopted on February 27, 1917.

The design is divided horizontally into two halves. The top half features 13 rays of red and yellow radiating from the center, while the bottom half is a field of "liberty blue". Right in the center sits a copper star (which makes total sense when you realize Arizona produces more copper than any other state in the nation).

The 13 alternating rays represent both the original 13 colonies of the United States and the famous desert sunsets of the Southwest. The red and yellow colors honor the historic Spanish colors brought by Francisco Vásquez de Coronado's 1540 expedition. Meanwhile, the blue field matches the exact shade used in the American flag, signifying the state's entry into the union as the 48th state in 1912.
